Original publisher's brown cloth binding. 4 3/4" x 7 1/4." 229 pages, complete. Fifteen black and white illustrated plates, complete. Printed by the Country Life Press in Garden City, New York. Former owner's inscription in black ink on front free endpaper: "B. S. Benton, 2538 Pleasant." Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Lettering on spine is rubbed off. Slight wear to the corners, head and tail of the spine, and joints. Small mark on the spine. George Ade (1866-1944) was an American author, newspaper columnist, and playwright. This book is in the same vein as his main body of work, humorous short stories that use slang for comedic effect. All of the stories end with a moral. Many of his stories portray life in Chicago.
