Inscription reads, "Just a collection of run-of-the-mine [mill?] Fables turned out in my busy syndicating period. George Ade - 1941; Inscribed for Perry Molstad." Original publisher's beige cloth binding with fine illustrated decorations on front cover and spine. Protected in mylar. 4 1/2" x 6 3/4." 154 pages, complete. Black-and-white plates, complete. Former owner's bookplate tipped in on front pastedown: "Peter Molstad." The bookplate shows a black-and-white illustration of a deer with a book propped open between its antlers. Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Slight rubbing to the head and tail of spine and slight corner wear. A Very Good copy. George Ade (1866-1944) was an American writer, humorist, and newspaper columnist. He is best-known for his humorous short stories that use street language, slang, and capitalization of letters for stylistic effect. His stories are often about average American folk who find themselves in comedic situations. This book features a collection of humorous fables. A "moral" is listed at the end of each story.
