The front end page has been signed in black ink by the author, E.D. Adrian. Adrian was the Chancellor of Cambridge University in 1973 when he signed this book. He won the Nobel Prize for medicine in 1932 and was created a Baron in 1955, hence him simply signing with "Adrian". He passed away in 1977, 4 years after signing this book. The boards are shelf rubbed and edge worn, with some signs of surface damage on the front and back. The boards are slightly warped outwards, but remain strong and square, with bright gold gilt to the spine. Internally, there is a previous owner's signature on the front end page along with the author's. The first and last few pages are quite foxed, but this does not extend into the body of the book, and the rest of the pages within are crisp, clean and complete. Tightly bound and whole. JK.
