Original 10 1/2 x 8 aquatint engraving, finished by hand. Henry Thomas Aiken (1785-1851) was an English painter and engraver, best know for his engravings of sporting pursuits. This work depicts the barbarous practice of badger-baiting in which a dog attacks a badger for sport. Two gentleman are sitting on a wooden crate, presumably holding the badger, while another gentleman is holding back a dog, and another looks on. The print identifies I.
