ISBN 0224030930

UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn. NFINE/NFINE. No owner inscrptn, and no price-clip to dw/dj.Black+white, sepia photographic dw/dj with minimal shelf-wear or creasing to edges with no nicks or tears present.Miniscule bumping and reciprocal miniscule creasing to head+foot of spine/ backstrip.Biege cloth boards with bright, crisp, blocked gilt letters to spine/backstrip and beige endpapers.A tiny, raised particle under the front pastedown has left a small imprint to first 6pp.Inexplicably the cloth boards are lightly marked/stained in six small areas; 2 to each board and 2 to the spine/backstrip.There are no reciprocal stains or marks to inner dw/dj - could this be a production fault with the glue/adhesive bleeding back through the cloth, bearing in mind the ffront endpaper fault too? Top+fore-edge clean, with pristine contents. UK,8vo HB +dw/dj,1st edn,11-176pp. This novel was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1991. It is notable partly because the events occur in a reverse chronology, with time passing in reverse and the main character,a Nazi concentration camp doctor, becoming younger and younger during the novel.Reverse chronology is a technique borrowed from Kurt Vonnegut's 'Slaughterhouse 5',(1969) and Philip K. Dick's 'Counter-Clock World',(1967).
