Andrews was one of the presidents of the Centenary College of Louisiana who served from 1871-1882. The Centenary College of Louisiana is the oldest college in Louisiana and the oldest chartered liberal arts college in the United States west of the Mississippi River. It was founded in 1825 in Jackson, Louisiana. After a few changes in location, Centenary College is open today as a private college in Shreveport, Louisiana. In this letter, Andrews replies to a request by Edwin J. Freedle in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Freedle had requested a "biographical notice of [Andrews's] life.". Manuscript.
