Stereograph on gray board (7 x 3 1/2 inch) with commentary on the backside about the trans-Andean railway from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires and its struggle to cross the Andes at 12,000 feet (886 miles). A tunnel (2 miles) was built in 1909 to replace the animal pack trains which filled the gap until then. Image of the summit of the railway before entering the tunnel at Juncal, Chile with the station in the center and the Andes rising in the background. Nice clean copy.. Book.
