A concise and charming pamphlet about reading weather maps (or weather charts) and the basics of atmospheric pressure and its influence on the weather. This booklet briefly describes how atmospheric pressure is instrumental in whether a geographic region will experience fair or stormy weather. High pressure is associated with fair weather. Low pressure is associated with stormy weather. Also included herein is a survey of meteorological terminology and concepts such as isobarometric bars (or isobars), characteristics of cyclones and anticyclones, and how to read a weather map. Several examples of weather systems on weather maps are shown with associated isobars and areas of high and low pressure. Ohio Valley is referenced several times as an example. Authored by S. S.
