Ronald Gordon Nudell Bates (1924-1995), a poet, literary critic and Professor of English was born in Regina Saskatchewan in 1924. He earned a B.A. (1948), at Victoria College, University of Toronto, and M.A. and Ph.D also from the University of Toronto. His teaching career was spent at the University of Upsala (Sweden), the University of Toronto and University of Western Ontario. A member of P.E.N., selected publications of his poetry include The wandering world (1959) the author's first book of poetry This copy is signed on the title page.
