Miniature map of Spitsbergen, decorated with a title cartouche, two ships and three sea-monsters. The English names on the map, including 'Prince Charles Island', show the importance of the island to the English whaling industry at the beginning of the Seventeenth century. Hondius engraved new plates for his edition of the Bertius atlas 'Tabularum Geographicarum Contractarum', which he sold alongside the Mercator 'Atlas Minor'.
