Original stereocard on pink-beige board. No date, circa 1856-1863. Board measures 7" x 3 1/2"; photograph measures 6" x 3 1/8." Very clean copy. Title on bottom of left image. "C. Bierstadt, Niagara Fall, N.Y." on left side of board. "Manufacturer of Stereoscopic Views" on right side of board. Photograph shows a busy street with buildings in Manhattan, NY where crowds of people appear to be watching a parade or procession. Charles Bierstadt (1819-1903) was an American photographer who specialized in stereoscopic views. He was one of the older brothers of American landscape painter Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902). He and his brother, Edward Bierstadt (1824-1906), a fellow stereoscopic photographer, established themselves as professional photographers in the late 1850s. In 1863, Charles moved his photography business from Niagara Falls, NY and carried it on with success.. Photographic Image. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
