General Adam Badeau (1831-95) was General Grant's aide (1864-69) and biographer. In this amusing and good naturedl letter Bigelow writes to Badeau about Badeau's upcoming wedding, his second, wishing the couple happiness and success, says he is not sure he can make the ceremony and "welcomes the future Mrs. Badeau to the ranks.".
