Lindsay Cable, illustrated dw/dj,with red+white lettering,rear panel with publisher's advert - black text to white background and slightly grubbed/darkened white spine/ backstrip; with negligible shelf-wear or creasing to edges and corners - some nicks and tears and some inevitable loss too. Chipping/rubbing to all corners of dw/dj with miniscule loss to same.Both head+foot of spine/backstrip minimally chipped with reciprocal loss - lettering unaffected.At head of spine/backstrip on dw/dj,two closed tears/splits of different lengths, at it's gutter's edges - one each to front +back gutters.Top edges minimally and faintly dust-soiled and with lightest of any ageing,fore-edges with hint of ageing - very considerably much less than is usual/normal or encountered - so bright and clean with minimal foxing/ spotting; contents bright,tight,clean,solid and sound - near pristine - no foxing to text body and no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners,appears unread - apart from my own collation.Bright,crisp,clean,sharp -cornered,publisher's original plain dark blue cloth bds with bright,crisp,stamped red ink printed letters and to spine/ backstrip too,and clean plain white eps with no off-set foxing/shadowing from dw/dj's inner flaps.UK,slim 12mo HB+dw/dj, 4th edn,v-vipp+1-153pp [paginated] includes author's foreword,contents list/ table to its verso,XX(20) chapters,8 full- page b/w line illus by W.Lindsay Cable throughout the text and the book and a b/w line illus vignetted frntis,plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages. Uncommon example with a dw/dj in a book of its age and given the period of production,i.e. 1942-1947 - with wartime paper-rationing, and the poor quality of paper generally used and survival rates of air-raids on domestic and commercial properties i.e publishers+printers.Any dw/dj would have been of substandard quality and fragility and be prone to subsequent disintegration and usually discarded,or be reverse printed - possibly coming from an entirely different book/ title.
