UK,slim 12mo HB minus dw/dj,1st edn.[True UK first edn with the 'THIS BOOK IS PRODUCED IN COMPLETE CONFORMITY WITH THE AUTHORIZED ECONOMY STANDARDS' advice/ notification,and stated 'First published in 1946' to verso of title page.Uncommon example in a book of its age and given the period of production,i.e. 1942-1947 - with wartime paper-rationing,and the poor quality of paper generally used and survival rates of air-raids on domestic and commercial properties i.e publishers+ printers.Any dw/dj would have been of substandard quality and fragility and be prone to subsequent disintegration and usually discarded,or be reverse printed - possibly coming from an entirely different book/title.] VG-.A neat,ink handwritten familial gift presentation inscrptn and date (Xmas 1946) to top edge of front free endpaper.Publisher's original green cloth bds with bright,crisp,stamped brown ink printed letters and magnifying glass+ illustrated thumbprint to front cover/ board and similar lettering to spine/ backstrip and generally clean eps apart from some slight marks; with negligible shelf-wear or creasing to edges and corners - no major nicks,tears,splits or fraying present.Book has slight lean,all corners minimally bumped and fore-edge of front bd with a narrow margin of bleaching of it's original colour to it's length - water damage?
