The 3rd book of 6 in the 'Malory Towers' series.A stand alone novel but still about the same girls in the other titles in the series. The stories have followed Darrell and the other girls from her very first day, when she was 12 years old, through all the forms of the school, one in each book, until she becomes head-girl of the school and leaves. We meet again most of the girls we met in the first 2 Malory Towers books, and a few more. Darrell is here again,of course.Alicia and her tricks,Irene and Belinda the madcaps, stolid Jean, loyal Sally. We meet Zerelda too,the American girl with her "wunnerful" ways; Bill, short for Wilhelmina, mad on horses; Mavis, who has a remarkable voice and is sure she is going to be an opera singer. How do they settle down with the other girls? And what about the two Mam'zelles, and Matron, and Miss Potts, the house-mistress? They are all here again, lively, real, part of Malory Towers. The whole school comes to life with its work and games, its fun and laughter, its ups and downs and never-failing interest. One of the best Malory Towers books to date (then 1949). An exceptional example in exceptional condition notwithstanding dw/dj's presence - an important and welcome addition to the Blyton/Malory Towers canon for all Blyton/ schoolgirls fiction collectors/officianados.
