LONDON.COLLINS,1979.

ISBN 0001821687.

UK,slim 8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn.FINE+/FINE+. No owner inscrptn, and no price-clip to dw/dj,but there is in situ,a publisher's own, original square, adhesive white paper price-label (£2.95) towards foot of dw/djs' front, inner flap.Bright, crisp, clean, glossy laminated, white background with colour pictorial artwork by Peggy Fortnum, illustrated upper panel and reddish-brown+black lettering,a b/w line illustrated publisher's advert to rear panel; both with negligible shelf-wear and creasing to edges and corners - no nicks or tears present.Spine/backstrip not sunned and unfaded, with reddish-brown+black lettering, number 11 towards foot and just above a blue vertical lozenge with black line illus of Paddington within it,and a tiny, tiny crease to foot of spine/backstrip,to rear board's gutter. Top+fore- edges generally clean and bright; contents fox-free,bright,tight and near pristine - no dog-ear creases to body of text/book - possibly an unread example? Bright, crisp, clean, sharp-cornered,salmon/(rose pink?) paper-covered boards with bright, crisp, blocked silver gilt letters to spine/backstrip and near immaculate plain white enepapers, the only fault to them is 2 minute foxing spots to lower edge of the front free endpaper, the rear endpapers unaffected.UK,slim 8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn,7-125pp [paginated] includes 7 chapters, profuse b/w line illus by Peggy Fortnum,as either chapter head+ tail pieces or part-page illustrations within the text; plus [unpaginated] b/w Paddington Bear vignetted half-title page,a similar title page, and a contents list/table.Virtually unaged, nearly as new and a really exceptional example - definitely the best I've ever handled, let alone seen.It is EXCEPTIONAL! The 11th PB novel, which finds him in excellent form - and,as usual,up to his ears in trouble. By accident he takes a driving test, and is later presented with a certificate for him to drive something very special. Somehow his neighbour,Mr Curry,is padlocked into Mr Brown's new steaming-hot sauna bath, while Paddington has difficulty remembering his combinations. And more trouble is caused when Paddington tries his paw at earning some money, and poses as a model in a life-class. 'Paddington Takes The Test',packed full of the bear's well-meaning intentions which go hilariously wrong,is once again delightfully illustrated by Peggy Fortnum.
