UK,small,slim 8vo HBs+s/case,1st edns thus,all 12 volumes.[This edition was exclusively produced for the Folio Society by HarperCollins Children's Books,in 2010.] FINE.No owner inscrptns,no dw/djs - slipcased - as issued.Bright,crisp,clean, sharp-cornered,publisher' original dark blue cloth with bright,crisp,stamped gilt silhouette of Paddington Bear and gilt lettering covered slip-case.12 small,slim 8vo HB volumes,each in a different colour cloth binding with bright,crisp,stamped gilt letters to spine/backstrip and front bd which also has a colour pictorial paper onlay with a single-line gilt border edge to it.Each volume with top edges all gilt, fore-edges bright and clean; a matching bd's coloured headband - i.e. green bds,green headband and Paddington Bear silhouettes line illustrated eps and profuse b/w line illustrations by Peggy Fortnum throughout the text and the book.[One of the titles - 'Paddington Here and Now' is illustrated by R. W. Alley - the only exception.] Contents bright, tight,clean,solid and sound - pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners - appears unread - apart from my own collation.Each volume with pagination varying between 7- 157pp pagination.3 volumes spine/backstrips with minimal, light sunning/fading; 1 volume in particular with sunning/fading to rear bd too,from being stored in proximity of a smaller book's presence.Titles include 'Paddington Here and Now','A Bear Called P','More About P','P Helps Out','P Abroad','P At Large','P Marches On','P At Work','P Goes to Town','P Takes the Air','P on Top' and 'Paddington Takes the Test'. Worked as Peggy Fortnum.Born Harrow-on-the-Hill, Middlesex.Educated at St. Margaret's School,Harrow.Joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service (1942-43); discharged, after injury,with a pension and war grant on which she studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts.An introduction by John Farleigh (then Art Director at the Sylvan Press) led to publisher's commissions,and she continued to work as a book illustrator (of over 70 titles,mainly for children) until 1975.Her light-hearted pen and ink sketches did much to enliven the first eleven books in Michael Bond's 'Paddington Bear' series (1958-74/1980). She also paints,in oil and watercolour,and has exhibited in England and America; she has also designed textiles (1947-51).
