Original publisher's hand-colored map that includes the modern-day countries of Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and parts of Jordan and Syria. The map labels the region as it existed during Biblical times. A key in the lower-right corner lists the areas as they were owned by the Biblical tribes of Israel including Asher, Naphtali, Zebulon, Issacher, Manasseh, Ephram, Benjamin, Dan, Simeon, Judah, Manasseh (beyond Jordan), Gad, and Reuben. Biblical cities and towns and sites of Biblical events are labeled. This is a beautiful map that features red, green, and yellow outlines around the regional borders. Watercoloring on the map boundary or neatline. Natural geographic features are shown such as rivers, mountains, and seas. No date, circa 1835. Map with margins measures 8 3/4" x 11 1/2"; actual map area measures 7 3/4" x 9 3/4." Map is very clean and intact except for slight foxing. Title printed in upper-left corner. Scale of distance printed beneath the title. Lines of latitude and longitude also included. Printed at the center beneath the neatline is "164" which denotes this map as Plate 164 of T. G. Bradford's Comprehensive Atlas: Geographical, Historical, & Commercial. Thomas G. Bradford (1802-1887) was an American map publisher and assistant editor of the Encyclopedia Americana.
