299 pages (complete). A benign copy of this VERY RARE book. Taking the book's age into account the condition is fair and sure. Colquhoun was a fine example of the Victorian Imperial man who saw action about the globe, was the first administrator of the Mashonaland and expedited the Manika agreement. By the time he was 50 his experiences in South Africa as an imperial servant, engineer and traveller were immense. The red cover, with the illustration of an African sunrise, is benign and sure. There is wear, some scuffing and marking. The spine is tanned with wear but is sure. Inside, the contents are foxed throughout. The folded map at the front of the book is worn and foxed but is otherwise genteel. The pages are firm, sure, clear, confident, well-spirited and unaffected. fk. Book Condition: Fair.
