Very good indeed in the original olive green printed wrappers. A fine inscribed presentation / association copy: "To my old pupil Leif Egeland with kind regards from Lionel Curtis 6 Nov 1945". With Leif egeland's ownership signature Stockholm 1945. Lionel George Curtis (1872-1955) was a British official and author. After fighting in the Second Boer War with the City Imperial Volunteers and serving as secretary to Lord Milner, he dedicated himself to working for a united self-governing South Africa. He advocated British Empire Federalism and, late in life, a world state. His ideas concerning dyarchy were important in the development of the Government of India Act 1919 and more generally, his writings influenced the evolution of the Commonwealth of Nations. Leif Egeland, friend and advisor to Jan Smuts, was South African High Commissioner in London at that time. Click here for full details of this book, to ask a question or to buy it on-line.
