Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Dana (1881-1950) was a Literature professor and the grandson of the famous poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882). In 1917, he was granted a life tenancy of the Vassell-Craigie-Longfellow House and was its first curator. This volume is a history of the house, including its use by George Washington as his first official headquarters as commander of the Continental Army. Nathan Appleton purchased the home in 1843 for his daughter, Frances, upon her marriage to Longfellow. He lived there until the end of his life.
