DYLAN THOMAS. Aneirin Talfan Davies : Dylan: Druid of the Broken Body

Christopher Davies, Swansea, 1977

The expanded second edition of Davies' noted critical study of Dylan Thomas as a religious poet, with a new six-page foreword by the author, plus his lengthy 39-page essay 'The Influence of Welsh Prosody on Modern English Poetry' which was not included in the original edition of 1964. Small 8vo. 124pp. Green boards lettered in gold at the spine. A very good copy in very good dust wrapper, lightly creased at the head of the spine panel and with the original printed price of the front flap inked out. An interesting inscription inked in Welsh to the half-title verso reads: "Martin - here is the book I mentioned to you (and which I typed a bit of when I was working for Aneirin Talfan in 1961/2!). Happy birthday and every success - 22 March 1983 - Eirwen". The author of the inscription was probably a BBC Wales secretary (Aneirin Talfan Davies, who was a personal friend of both Dylan Thomas and David Jones, was a poet, broadcaster and literary critic, and Head of Programmes at BBC Wales).. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: Very Good
