A Fine book in a Fine dust jacket. The fifth installment of the thirteen-book Bantan series. Maurice B. Gardner (1905-1977) was an American author and diesel machinist and inspector for the Maine Central Railroad. He is perhaps best-known for his Bantan series of novels which were highly inspired by Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan. Bantan is a warrior-like protagonist who has many adventures and faces numerous perils on hidden islands in the South Pacific. In this novel, Bantan encounters the villainous Amar, the son of an Amo Island chief; does battle with a wild boar, sharks, and a giant clam; and faces a violent tropical storm. Two island women, Nao and Princess Lori, also fall in love with Bantan. Notably the first Bantan novel to be illustrated.. Illustr.: Cawthorn, Jim. Book. Book Condition: Fine. Binding: Hardcover.
