Top edge lightly dust soiled, and with a little spotting to the fore edge. Some spotting to the preliminary and concluding leaves, and with a trace more to occasional leaf margins. A very good copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, toned at the spine panel, with three small areas of edge-loss and with several tiny areas of surface abrasion. The uncommon debut novel from one of the lesser known Harlem Renaissance writers, depicting black sharecroppers in rural Alabama (Henderson was born in Alabama in 1904, later moving to New York during the Great Migration.
