UK,8vo HB,(no date, but c1928?)1st thus edn, written entirely in Esperanto. VG.No owner inscrptn.Bound in clean, bright, publisher's original hessian-type,5 colour-banded art-deco style/design cloth bds with blind stamped gilt lettered author name and title only,in Esperanto (SI),which has slightly oxidised to upper bd and publisher's colophon to foot of spine/backstrip stamped, but gilt completely oxidised, and plain brown eps. Top edge slightly dust-soiled,as usual/ normal, and foxed with fore-edges lightly aged but some light foxing.Contents bright, tight and clean apart from foxing to prelims and some light, minimal foxing scattered throughout the text.My recollection of Esperanto is sketchy and patchy, but I believe this to be the first Esperanto published edition of Haggard's "SHE",published posthumously after his death,14th May,1925,in London. An an usual and possibly ideal opportunity for a collector collecting all different bds or dw/dj designs of a particular title - or all the titles in a certain series.Of course, collectors should remember that they are not just amassing an interesting collection of books - and indeed several interesting collections - but also a large
amount of good reading, ranging from African adventures to Victorian moralistic
novels, from Ancient Egypt to the Aztec and Inca cultures and from humour to tragedy. Haggard's work ranges across vast distances of time and place, and contains within its scope every facet of human experience.[EMcCS.]
