Original publisher's hand-colored engraved map of Holland and the Netherlands. A beautiful map featuring pink, blue, yellow, orange, and green coloring along the borders of the countries, provinces, and political regions. Within this map, the Netherlands encompass the following provinces and regions: "Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe, Overyssl (Overijssel), Gelderland, Utrecht, North and South Brabant, Antwerp, Limburg, Liege, Luxembourg, Namur, Hainault, West and East Flanders, and Zeeland. Major cities are shown along with natural geographic features such as rivers and the North Sea. Map with margins measures 8 1/4" x 10 1/2"; actual map area measures 7 1/2" x 9 5/8." Map is very clean and intact except for slight off-setting and slight splitting at the edges of the horizontal center fold line. Title and scale of distance in English Miles printed in upper-right corner. Lines of latitude and longitude also included. Underneath the map is the following information: "London; Published by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme & Brown, Paternoster Row, 1822." and "Engraved by Sidy. Hall, Bury Strt. Bloomsby." "XIII" printed in lower-right corner. Sidney Hall (1788-1831) was an English map publisher and engraver. He made a name for himself as a reputable engraver in the mapmaking industry. Upon Hall's passing in 1931, his wife, Selina Price Hall (1782-1853), who was a Welsh scientist and fellow map engraver, took over his business and signed her maps under the name, "S. Hall.". Map.
