Folio. Entire issue, September, 1949, in original wraps, light general wear, spine edges rubbed a bit, generally clean and bright. A reprinting of the masterful story to celebrate the announcement by 20th Century-Fox that they had purchased the movie rights. The story originally appeared in the August, 1936 issue of Esquire. See Hanneman C353. The movie would be released in 1952, with Gregory Peck as Harry, the dying man, and Susan Hayward as Harry's wife Helen. The character of Cynthia Green, played by Ava Gardner, was invented for the film. It is noted the film's ending did not mirror the story. One can suspect only that Hemingway disapproved.
