A collection of thirty essays and sketches recounting village life in the decade following the Great War. Both this book and its companion piece, 'The Village Book' (1930), were subsequently rearranged and revised by Williamson in 1945 to form 'Tales of a Devon Village' and 'Life in a Devon Village'..
