5 x 7 1/2 paper, University Club, New York letterhead, excellent condition. Envelope included, postmarked February 1, 1962. Paul Horgan (1903-1995) was an author of fiction and history, mostly set in the American Southwest. He won the Pulitzer Prize for History twice. This short note is written to Matilda Johnson, wife of Malcolm Johnson (1902-1958), an executive vice president at Doubleday, Doran & Co. and then D. Van Nostrand Co., Inc. from 1937-1944. "Dear Dallas - perhaps this is the best orchestra in the land today! Wish I could hear it! Best - Paul Horgan" Dallas was the name of Mathilde and Malcolm's son.. Manuscript.
