He is best-known for his semi-autobiographical novel, The Lost Weekend, in which alcoholism is portrayed with unflinching realism. The Lost Weekend was based on Jackson's own struggles with alcoholism. Walter Kerr (1913-1996) was an American writer and theater critic. Walter won the 1978 Pulitzer Prize for Criticism for his writings about theater. Walter was married to Jean Kerr (1922-2003), an Irish-American playwright and fellow writer.
