This handsome map depicts mid-17th century geographical knowledge of the antarctic regions, printed a few years before the discovery of New Zealand and Tasmania. In the corners, illustrations depict scenes involving indigenous people engaged in cooking, hunting, and feeding children; one shows a man chasing a penguin. Small decorative cartouche in lower left of map.
