First edition, limited to 100 numbered copies (this example un-numbered and label 'proof copy'). Small 4to. Unpaginated. Card wrappers with French flaps and a printed title label to the upper wrapper. A touch of light rubbing to the yapped upper and lower edges, else in fine state. In addition to Betjeman (who shuns Concrete, Barbed wire, "Art historians" and Archdeacons), other contributors include Cyril Connolly, Roy Fuller, William Plomer, Alyse Gregory, Anthony Powell, John Cowper Powys, Julian Symons, Helen Thomas, Sylvia Townsend Warner and Lawrence Whistler. Scarce. Halliwell B40 (who notes that just two proof copies were produced). "Our 'Likes & Dislikes' book was started in 1958. Kathleen Symons provoked the idea by asking me, a trifle tartly, if I liked anything. We took an ordinary exercise book with lined paper and began to ask our friends to list their prejudices . so here, partly by courtesy of Mrs. Julian Symons, are the likes & dislikes of certain inhabitants of the world during the second half of the troubled 20th Century - 'wayfarers all' - from George Sims' introduction..
