Circa 1900, sized 6 x 9.5 inches, on heavy gloss paper, generally very clean and bright. King, b. New York City, January 26, 1814, was a soldier, editor, and diplomat. He graduated from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in 1833. In 1861 he was appointed by President Lincoln as minister to the Papal States in Rome, but at the outbreak of the Civil War he volunteered his services and was commissioned Brigadier General of U. S. Volunteers. He served with the Iron Brigade from 1861 until his resignation in 1863 due to ill health. 0. Print. Book Condition: VG.
