Red cloth, lettered in gold at the spine and with a quite striking black- and gilt-stamped patterning to the backstrip and upper board. Captioned tissue-protected frontispiece. Patterned endpapers lightly browned, and with just a touch of fading to the backstrip and a hint of wear to the spine ends. A very good copy. One of two books Hearn produced during the two years (1987-89) he spent in Martinique at the behest of 'Harper's Magazine'.
