Without sentimentality, Helen Levitt captured the conflicts and juxtapositions that announced Mexico City's entry into the 20th century. To show just that, Levitt personally selected the photographs in this collection, from among the hundreds she took, to represent her body of work on her other city, a searing contrast to her beloved New York, of which she has deservedly been called its visual Poet Laureate.
