Original publisher's purple cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine. Lightly impressed decorations on front and back covers and spine. 5" x 7." 322 pages, complete. Two additional pages of the publisher's advertisements for other books in the back. Former ownership inscription in pencil on a front flyleaf facing the verso of the front free endpaper: "Sheldon, March 1879." Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. Spine is a little faded with slight wear at the head and tail of spine. A collection of short stories with an introduction titled "Stories from a Dutch Town." There are three stories, "Abram Van Zandt, the Man in the Picture," "Mr. Schermerhorn's Marriage and Widowhood," and "Master Vorhagen's Wife." Listed in Wright III as no. 8414. The author was an ancestor of the modern poet of the same name, Robert Lowell IV.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover
