Harold (Edward) Munro was born in Brussels and educated in England at Radley School and at Cambridge.A poet himself,Munro launched The Poetry Review and opened his Poetry Bookshop in Bloomsbury in 1912.The Poetry Bookshop published anthologies of contemporary verse edited by Edward Marsh and entitled Georgian Poetry.The bookshop became a meeting place and in some cases a haven for poets in all stages of their career; Rupert Brooke,Robert Frost,and others gave readings and Charlotte Mew's poems were published there.Munro's generosity and catholic taste cost him a great deal of money and many aspirants had reason to be grateful to him.
