Masefield would later on,replace Robert Bridges as the Poet Laureate in 1930, having been chosen in preference to Rudyard Kipling,A.E Housman,Yeats,John Drinkwater,Walter de la Mare,and Henry Newbolt,six of his eminent contemporaries. John Masefield served as Britain's Poet Laureate from 1930-1967.
