Dixon active 1893- 1931] Figure painter and illustrator who lived in London,Sussex and Hampshire.His book illustrations,mainly in full colour or half-tone,were conventional and prosaic with sentimental overtones,but generally competent.He illustrated books for a very varied amount of contemporary authors and other children's classic literature and Collins Children's Annual,Pearson's Magazine and Tuck's Annual.
Helen Mathers,pen-name of Ellen Buckingham Matthews,1853-1920 a popular English novelist writing between the late 19th and early 20thC.Her debut novel,for which she is best known,Comin' Thro' The Rye was originally and first published as triple decker (a 3 volume set) in 1875.
