Small 4to. (9 3/4 x 7 inches). First edition. Heavy transparent tape, for protection, applied to the spine and edges of the front cover. This is Morton Goldscholl’s copy with his name unobtrusively stamped in red on the first page, his marginalia and underscoring, in pencil. Goldscholl was a leading American designer who received numerous awards. In 1964, he was honored as Art Director of the Year by the American Society of Art Directors, and Chicago Artist of the Year. Goldscholl met and studied with Moholy-Nagy at the American Bauhaus in Chicago. Though eight books were planned in Franz Roh's Fototek series, just two were released, of which this was the first. Designed by Jan Tschichold; introductory essay by Roh. Text in German, English and French.
