Original pencil drawing for the movie, The Night Walker. Doubles as an advertisement for Helene Curtis Industries, Incorporated. Gray, black, and red pencil (and perhaps also crayon or pastel) on three layers of tracing paper stapled together at the four corners and a couple times at the top and bottom edges. Features stylized text and an illustration beautifully rendered by hand. The following is the text: "see the Natural Silver Look of Barbara Stanwick; featured in William Castle's 'The Night Walker,' a Universal Release starring Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwick; Get the Natural Silver Look with Helene Curtis featured here." The illustration shows the worried-looking face of a woman, Barbara Stanwyck's character in the film, behind whom is an ominous shadowy face of a man. No date, circa 1964. 11 1/2" x 22." Drawing is very clean and intact overall. Folded four times vertically. A few minuscule marks are on the illustration of the woman. Three small closed tears at the top measuring about 1/4." Slight age toning. Very Good. Night Walker (1964) is a psychological thriller that was directed and produced by William Castle and released by Universal Pictures. The movie features the main character of Irene Trent, played by Barbara Stanwyck, who is married to a paranoid and controlling husband named Howard Trent, played by Hayden Rorke. Howard spends hours in his laboratory as an inventor and has wiretapped their entire house, accusing Irene of infidelity. The only person allowed into the house is Howard's personal attorney, Barry Moreland, played by Robert Taylor. Irene remains faithful to her husband despite his accusations, but a sudden accident in Howard's lab sets off a series of strange events. Irene begins to have dreams about an idealized man she calls, "The Dream," but those dreams eventually become nightmares. Barbara Stanwyck (1907-1990) was an American actress who worked on stage, in movies, and on television for over sixty years. In 1944, she was the highest-paid woman in the United States. She received an Academy Award in 1937 for her role as Stella Dallas, three Emmy Awards for her work on TV during the 1960s, and an Academy Honorary Award in 1982. This movie would mark Stanwyck's final role in film. Robert Taylor (1911-1969) was an American actor who appeared in many movies and a number of television shows. He was one of the most popular leading actors of his time and had a successful career. Taylor was married to Stanwyck between 1939 and 1951. William Castle (1914-1977) was an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. He became well-known for his "B movies" and directed and produced many thrillers and horror films. Helene Curtis Industries, Inc. was founded in 1927 in Chicago, Illinois as a cosmetics company. Its flagships included Suave and Finesse hair products and Degree deodorant. Helene Curtis enjoyed many years of financial success but could not compete with larger companies, so the company was acquired by Unilever in 1996.. Drawing. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
