Interesting biography of Lyman MacCallum. Born into a Canadian missionary family in Turkey he studied engineering at Queen's University and worked at mining camps in N. Ontario, then enlisted in the Canadian Army in August 1914. His lungs seriously damaged he returned to Istanbul in 1925 and was recruited by the American Bible Society. He was responsible for distributing Bibles in the Islamic Middle East, and was instrumental in publishing and printing a new translation of the Bible in Turkish when Ataturk's educational reforms of 1928 mandated the use of the new Roman style alphabet.
