First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 346pp. Dark blue cloth lettered in gold at the spine. Top edge lightly speckled, and with a touch of toning to the margins of the free endpapers. A very good copy quite poor dust wrapper designed by Roy De Maistre, split into several parts with some internal repair, and with about half of the spine panel now absent, and with several much smaller areas of edge-loss. The author's third novel, and the first of a number to feature dust wrapper designs by De Maistre (who the author called his "intellectual and aesthetic mentor").
