circa.1950. Publicity photo (5 x 7 inch) b/w. Dick Powell (1904-1963) was a singer, actor, producer, director and Studio Head. Began singing with the Charlie Daniels Band in the 1920s. Signed by Warner Bros and was in 42nd STREET, GOLD DIGGERS OF 1933, ON THE AVENUE playing the boyish crooner. After the war he began making 'film noir' playing Philip Marlowe ion MURDER MY SWEET and Richard Diamond on the Radio (1949-1953). Helped found Four Star Television. Directed THE CONQUEROR (1956) staring John Wayne filming near St.George, Utah in which 91 out of a crew of 220 died of cancer by 1981. Dick died at the age of 58 of cancer.. Book.
