8vo. No date [1945], 11pp, illustrated with 2 photographs of the author, one with facsimile signature, and a photo of treatment being provided to a patient, printed wraps, light general wear, a few insignificant glue (?) streaks noted at rear wrap, wraps separated about 1/2-inch at spine ends. Reprinted from the author's series of article that appeared in the Honolulu Adviser, about his two-week stay at the leper colony Kalaupapa, on Molokai, Hawaii, in 1937-38. Jack London had previously written of his own visit to the colony in 1908. From the opening paragraph, "While visiting Kalaupapa, Ernie Pyle wrote a series of articles for the Honolulu Adviser. Although he was not informed of the some of the more recent and technical facts about leprosy and its treatment, he did one thing with the full weight of his reportorial talent: he made 'lepers' human beings. That is why the American Mission to Lepers has asked and received permission to reprint the three articles which follow." Very scarce.. Book. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Soft cover
