The boards are a touch rubbed, faintly foxed and edge worn, but remain strong and whole. The dust jacket has fared less well; it is very rubbed and worn, with multiple chips, tears and creases along the edges, with some long tears running along the edges of the spine and flaps. Despite this, the jacket is for the most part intact and well protected in cellophane. Internally, a previous owner has taped some relevant newspaper clippings on to the back pastedown. A newspaper photograph of one of the boats in the book has also been slipped into the appropriate place in the book.
