Not all territories are shown but a few examples are "Spanish Cession, 1819" (present-day Florida), "Province of Louisiana, 1803," (Louisiana Purchase), "Several Mexican Cessions, 1845; 1848" (present-day California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, and Indiana), and "Russian Cession, 1868" (present-day Alaska).
