circa 1950 publicity photograph (8 x 10 inch) of Mr Ritter in western outfit with guitar. Tex Ritter (1905-1974), a musician and actor, began his career on stage in 1928 and on radio singing western tunes. Signed with Columbia Records in 1933, later Decca Records issuing a series of records which raised up the charts for music sales. By 1936 he began making B-movies, especially singing cowboys, and between 1938 and 1945 he made 40 'singing cowboy' movies. Ritter signed with Capital Records in 1942 issuing a series of hits, among them the theme to 'High Noon' which won a Oscar. Had a TV show from 1959 to 1963 "Ranch Party'. Along with his acting and singing career he played a role in forming United Cerebral Palsy Assn. and raising money for the cause. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.. Book.
