In 1984,it was 36 years since the author completed the recognised standard work on Margaret Fell.Up to her death in 1964,she kept a copy for annotation,and this was made available by family relatives.Of the 80 amendments she recorded,about 50 have been incorporated in this revision.The rest were either notes for her own personal use or comparatively minor points that could not conveniently be incorporated.This revision has added some 40 further corrections,mainly to clarify references or to move a few steps forward in the uniform treatment of dates (allowing for changes from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar.For clarity all changes of text, except for a few literals,are shown in bolder type.
