Original publisher's beige paper brochure that folds out into three panels (folded in thirds vertically). Six panels front and back. 5 3/4" x 9." Printed on five of the panels, complete. One black-and-white, full-page, illustrated advertisement for Sherman Clay, the musical instrument retailer. Sherman Clay was in business from 1853-2013. Brochure is very clean and intact overall except for slight age toning and wrinkling. A Very Good copy. Program for a ballet and musical show by Uday Shankar (1900-1977) and Amala Shankar (1919-2020). Interior title reads, "S. Hurok Presents Uday Shankar and Amala with Their Indian Ballet of Dancers and Musicians." The show has three acts; the program briefly names and describes the constituent scenes and performances of each act. Uday was an Indian dancer and choreographer. He was a pioneer of dance who became well-known for his fusion of Indian classical dance and European theatrical technique. He helped to popularize modern dance in India. Amala was an Indian dancer and the wife of Uday. She acted in Uday's film, Kalpana (1948), which showed at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Sol Hurok (1888-1974) was a Russian-American theater impresario. Hurok managed many eminent performing artists under his famous marquee, "S. Hurok Presents.". Ephemera. Book Condition: Very Good.
